The Association for the Conservation of Energy exists to reduce overall energy demand to ensure a secure and sustainable energy future.

It was formed in 1981 by a group of companies responding to the need for raised awareness of energy efficiency and for policy to drive forward the market for products that promote better use of energy, principally in buildings. The role of the organisation is to influence policy makers through lobbying, campaigning and carrying out research to achieve sensible and consistent policy, legislation and targets; it aims to raise a positive awareness of energy conservation and encourage increased investment in all appropriate energy saving measures.

AGS (Association of Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental Specialists)

The 130 Members of the AGS are: consultants, contractors and laboratories engaged in the assessment, analysis and remediation of contaminated land and/or ground engineering. All Members are required to adhere to the AGS Code of Practice for Site Investigation. The AGS has seven active working groups, including those concerned with contaminated land, safety, laboratories, the electronic transfer of ground-investigation data, business practice and loss prevention.

To provide a focus for the promotion of good commercial and professional practice in the Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental industry.

CHPA (Combined Heat & Power Association)

Source Testing Association (STA)

The Source Testing Association (STA) was established in 1995 and has a corporate membership of over 200 companies from process operators, regulators, equipment suppliers and test laboratories. The STA is a non-profit making organisation. The STA is committed to the advancement of the science and practice of emission monitoring and to develop and maintain a high quality of service to customers. Its aims and objectives are to:

  1. contribute to the development of industry standards, codes, safety procedures and operating principles;
  2. encourage the personal and professional development of practicing source testers and students;

SWIG (Sensors for Water Interest Group)

UK legislation, changing European Directives, competitive business pressures and customer expectations are driving change. Environmental, water and waste treatment and process industries are reviewing and exploring new ways to use both old and new sensor technology to monitor and control water quality. SWIG concentrates on activities which disseminate information on sensor developments and which foster collaboration. SWIG offers a cost-effective way of maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of, and dissemination of, information on individual new technologies and/or sensor applications. SWIG workshops also consider the affect of existing and forecast regulations and legislation on the design and use of environmental and process measurements.
